This three-credit course will explore disaster recovery technologies.

Disaster Recovery Plan: many organizations ignore the disaster recovery issues facing their network. Think of disaster recovery as insurance to the network. This is the number one reason why network attacks succeed, because organizations had prepared to be attacked, the attack wouldn’t have been so bad, or ‘as’ bad had you not prepared.

This course teaches you the methods in identifying vulnerabilities and takes appropriate countermeasures to prevent and mitigate failure risks for an organization. It also provides the networking professional with a foundation in disaster recovery principles, including preparation of a disaster recovery plan, assessment of risks in the enterprise, development of policies, and procedures, and understanding of the roles and relationships of various members of an organization, implementation of the plan, and recovering from a disaster. This course takes an enterprise-wide approach to developing a disaster recovery plan. Students will learn how to create a secure network by putting policies and procedures in place, and how to restore a network in the event of a disaster.

Introduction to Disaster Recovery,  Developing the Disaster Recovery Plans, Assessing Risks in the Enterprise, Prioritizing Systems and Functions for Recovery, Developing Plans and Procedures, Organizational Relationships in Disaster Recovery, Procedures for Responding to Attacks on Computers, Developing Procedures for Special Circumstances, Implementing disaster Recovery Plans, Testing and Rehearsal, Continued Assessment of Needs, Threats and Solutions, Living Through a Disaster

The duration of this course is 8 weeks with 40 instructor contact hours.

There will 2 assignments and one exam in this course.
